The archetype of the four-poster bed is renewed in a contemporary light, thanks to an elegant merging of hand-forged iron, polished steel, fabrics and quality trimmings.

Contessa is an alcove that carefully combines the materiality typical of iron and steel with the softness and lightness of textile fibres. The frame is made of steel, with posts in polished steel, characterised by iron elements turned from the solid and hand-forged. It has “flower” terminals and feet, the latter with a shiny finish, in sharp contrast to the joint – in natural bush-hammered iron – and enriched by round-headed screws, again with a shiny finish.

Eligo Studio has conceived scenographies and design projects for prestigious clients such as Gucci, Antonio Marras, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vacheron Constantin, Premiere Vision Paris, Merci Paris, Yoox, Roger Vivier, Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, Richard Ginori, Homo Faber, Dior, Cartier, Loro Piana, Poltrona Frau, CC-Tapis, Michelangelo Foundation, Curiel, Institut Français de la Mode, NABA, Borsalino, Vispring London, Santa Margherita Wines, Tenute Masciarelli, Tenute Murola, Decorex International London and many others.

The design is completed by trimmings – to a pattern by the designers – made by the long-established Milanese firm Passamanerie/Figli di Carlo Monti, and fabrics by C&C Milano. The bed frame and headboard pillows are upholstered and covered with an aesthetic striped fabric, whilst light drapery surrounds and roofs the frame. This light textile creates an intimate space, lending character to the four-poster while relating to light and reminiscent of a stylish mosquito net.
The Contessa headboard is upholstered and fitted with removable covers.
