Trespolo

Martinelli Venezia

A square-section iron profile outlines a bed with a rigorous character and curves, in a gentle gesture, just before it rests on the floor.

Starting from 10.126 euros

The hand-forged iron is left in its pure form, defining an elegant, sober, and textural object, ready to engage with contexts rich in history.

Martinelli Venezia

It is a design studio, with offices in Milan and Palermo which was born in 2015 from the collaboration between the two architects Carolina Martinelli and Vittorio Venezia. The studio deals with art direction, product design, exhibition design, architecture, interiors and investigates topics such as the relationships between tradition and local knowledge, the properties of materials and the technical possibilities of manufacturing.
The studio’s projects have been exhibited in galleries and museums including the Louvre in Paris, MAXXI in Rome, Triennale Design Museum in Milan, Galleria Rossana Orlandi, Artopia gallery in Milan, Aram Gallery in London. Some works were presented in the international exhibitions “Manifesta Palermo 2018” and “Porto Design Biennale 2019”. Carolina Martinelli and Vittorio Venezia collaborate with numerous Italian and international companies such as Abet Laminati, Alcantara, Colé Italian Design Label, De Castelli, Falper, InternoItaliano, Jannelli & Volpi, Lithea, Luce5, Martinelli Luce, Meritalia, Mingardo, Moleskine, One to One, Pulkra, Premax, and Slide.

Trespolo draws inspiration from the Sicilian “trispiti” of the past, with iron trestles on which the boards rested, serving as a base for the mattress. The bed design also integrates two bedside tables, thanks to the extended length of the profile near the headboard. Further design attention is distinct in the canopy joints, concealed within a braided knot placed at the four corners of the bed.

The bed frame is made of solid square iron measuring 25×25 millimetres, entirely wrought and forged by hand; the feet are flattened and crafted in a traditional manner.
